Archive for October, 2011

Isn’t the crop of specialty pumpkins just gorgeous!   Even with the hot summer weather and the lack of water, our pumpkins are still the prettiest crop that we’ve ever grown.   Amazing, huh?   We still have pie pumpkins left for your thanksgiving menus as well!

In case you’ve lost track of time, this weekend is the last weekend in October and the last weekend for Walters’ Pumpkin Patch.   We’ll be having our Christmas sale and Wind Down to Winter 30% off all our merchandise excluding pumpkins, gourds, and squashes or canned products.   This is also the last weekend for the Haunted Cannery on Friday and Saturday evenings starting at 7:30pm and running to 11pm.  We won’t be as crowded as the past two weekends, so come on out to enjoy your last opportunity to bask in the Kansas sunshine prior to heading into winter.

It has been a wonderful season and we can only thank all of our faithful customers, and brand new visitors for allowing us to do what we love to do.   None of the school groups have been rained out this year which is always a blessing.   And we haven’t had too many groups getting onto the buses with muddy shoes……..that always is a worry to me.   So our season has been blessed and successful.   Thank you all for making it as such.

Until next time……I’ll be down in the patch gathering up the gourds we’ll use for projects to begin our journey into Pumpkin Fest 2012!  Hope to see you all again really soon!    Carroll & Becky Walters

Pumpkin Fest 2011

Who says a blue spruce can’t be adorned with cobwebs and pumpkins!    I sure had fun decorating this tree!

Once again it’s Pumpkin Fest time at Walters’ Pumpkin Patch.   This weekend for our Pickin’ in the Patch series, we have Piper Leigh from Wichita coming out on Saturday to sing for us.   This lady plays guitar and has a wonderfully soulful sound.   We met Piper at the Old Town Farmers Market in Wichita and invited her to come to the Walters this fall.   Alot of our Wichita friends are already acquainted with Piper and you will be too once you hear her sing!

Also, we have the same great face painter coming this weekend who painted for us last year!   Come be someone or something else for the day!

Our Haunted Cannery will be open for your scare of the season on Friday and Saturday nights in October.   We begin about 7:30pm and continue to 11:00pm.   David and Greg have added a giant slide off the side of the Cannery meant only to amaze and amuse each of its participants!   Come see this new offering!   At the Patch, Carroll has built a new Corn Crib Bin with ladder and another big slide.   We have Hoppy Horses now and the track to race your family and friends!  Plus we’ve added another larger jumping pillow so there’s plenty of room for everyone to jump to their hearts content!

Under we see you again……we’re down in the Patch.
