Archive for December, 2011
As you can see, the pumpkin patch is now history. The cattle have eaten every last orange orbit in the field. When spring time comes in 2012, the field will hold the corn maze and pumpkin patches will be moved onto new ground. A three year rotation keeps soil borne diseases from becoming a problem. We have enough problems with bugs and weeds in our pumpkins; we don’t need any other nuisances!
We here at the Walters’ Pumpkin Patch wish each of our friends a continued Christmas spirit throughout the new year. May the love and warmth that each of us feels during the holiday season continue in each of our hearts throughout 2012. May your hopes and dreams remain fresh in your thoughts. That is our wish for each of you.
I’m certain that next year will bring more dreams for us at our Kansas agritourism facility as Carroll’s to-do list grows and grows. I am still dreaming of growing those square pumpkins, using our own apples to make apple cider, a trackless train besides the barrel train which can be rode by adults, and the list goes on and on. Who knows what Pumpkin Fest 2012 will offer our visitors!
Until next time….”I’m dreaming of an orange pumpkin” instead of the white Christmas!
